Banana Na Na Na: The Perfect Travel Food

by | Last updated Apr 6, 2022 | Videos | 0 comments

The video above is just for fun – it's a parody remake of Camila Cabello's Havana song entitled Banana Na Na Na – but I really do eat two bananas every day for breakfast. 🍌🍌 They are the perfect travel food which I explain why in the video and get into further detail below. Bananas are an easy and healthy food to eat when you travel. Plus you can find bananas in almost every country in the world… especially the tropical countries that I often travel. You can also watch this video on Facebook or YouTube.

Health Benefits of Bananas

#1 – Bananas are packed with potassium which is a mineral electrolyte that keeps electricity flowing throughout your body – and that's what keeps your heart beating. (As it turns out, we're all part battery.) Potassium also helps your muscles contract and helps relay messages between your brain and body. Out of all the minerals out there, potassium is an important one to consume regularly.

#2 – Bananas are high in potassium but low in sodium – and that is great because it helps protect your cardiovascular system against high blood pressure (which as you know causes heart disease). A banana-filled potassium-rich diet reduces blood pressure and helps your body remove excess sodium.

#3 – Bananas are high in fiber which helps you poop regularly. Or more technically speaking, it promotes the movement of material through your digestive system and increases stool bulk. And by helping to remove bad things from your body, fiber prevents heart disease, diabetes, weight gain and cancer. One banana can provide up to 10% of your daily required fiber intake.

#4 – Bananas contain electrolytes… but what are electrolytes?? Do you even know??

What Are Electrolytes Idiocracy Meme

We all learned in Idiocracy (2006) that “electrolytes are what plants crave.” But aside from that, they do a lot more. Once electrolytes like potassium, calcium, magnesium, and table salt are in our bodies, they dissolve into positive and negative charges which then have two main functions: Regulating the flow of water in and out of cells, and sparking nerve impulses – essentially keeping our body functions operating properly like our hearts beating, lungs breathing, and brains learning.

When it comes to replenishing energy and electrolytes, eating one banana can be more effective than drinking a Gatorade.

#5 – Bananas contain a high amount of vitamin B6 which supports adrenal function, helps maintain a healthy nervous system, and ensures that metabolic processes such as fat and protein metabolism run smoothly. This helps protect against type 2 diabetes and also aids in weight loss.

#6 – Bananas are the perfect travel food. They are cheap, found everywhere in the world, are easy to carry since they come in their own built-in cases, and I think they are DELICIOUS! It's weird though – I love bananas and eat two every morning – but I hate banana foods like banana bread, banana pudding, or banana wafers. I've only met one other person named Charlie who feels the same way. I overheard him talking at a chamber of commerce meeting in Fuquay-Varina NC and I interrupted and said, “Excuse me. Did you just say that you love bananas but hate banana bread and pudding?” He's my long lost taste bud brother.
