Hey traveler, while you’re here join my friends list to get all the perks I offer at Travel is Life.

The very first ball drop was on New Year’s Eve 1907, one second after midnight. It was built from wood and iron using one hundred incandescent light bulbs and weighed in at 700 lbs. Today the ball is 12 feet in diameter, contains 32,256 LED lamps and 2,688 Waterford Crystal panels, and weighs in at 11,875 pounds. That's almost as heavy of a ball drop as every 7th grade classroom in America put together.
