What's the difference between the Eken H9R and Eken H9S models?
To put it simply.. we have no idea! The features, specs, and even the images used on both models appear to be the exact same for each model. We've reached out to Eken for clarification and will update this article when we receive their reply.
Update: I've been informed that the difference between the Eken H9R and H9S is that the H9S is capable of live streaming and comes with a Panasonic sensor.
Eken H9R & H9S vs GoPro Hero5 & Hero6
- Video Resolution: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras capture video at up to 4K/25fps. The GoPro Hero5 captures video at 4K/30fps and the Hero6 at 4K/60fps.
- Photo Resolution: The Eken H9R & H9S offer 12MP image resolution which is the same as the GoPro Hero5 and Hero6 cameras.
- Waterproof Capabilities: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras can be taken down to 100 feet with their included waterproof cases. The GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 6 are both waterproof up to 33 feet without needing a case.
- Storage Capacity: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras can handle up to a 64GB card versus the larger storage capacity of the GoPros which both allow up to a 128GB card.
- Voice Control: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras do not offer voice control. Both the GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 6 have voice control capabilities
- Outputs: TheEken H9R & H9S cameras have HDMI and WiFi outputs. The GoPro Hero5 and Hero6 do as well, plus USB and Bluetooth.
- Display: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras have a 2″ LCD display screen which are NOT touchscreen, whereas the GoPro Hero5 and Hero6 have touchscreen displays.
- Batteries: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras each come with 2 rechargeable 1050mAh Li-ion batteries. The GoPro Hero5 and Hero6 each come with one removable 1220mAh Lithium Ion battery.
- Included Accessories: The Eken H9R & H9S cameras come with: the camera, waterproof case, wireless remote control, tripod, two batteries, charging cables, handlebar mount, and a selection of clips, mounts, and brackets. The GoPro Hero 5/6 come with the camera, one battery, and charging cables.
Eken H9R & H9S Action Camera Reviews: What do travelers think of these cameras?
People who have purchased either camera love how many accessories come bundled with the cameras including a tripod, handlebar mount, wireless remote, and selection of mounts and clips. With any best selling action camera, there were a handful of negative reviews indicating that the product didn't work as expected and overheated, which seem more like individual camera defects which is luck of the draw with electronics versus complaints about the camera's video/photo quality – of which reviews were positive.
