Mount Roraima in South America – Mountain or Giant Tree Stump?

Mount Roraima - Mountain or Giant Tree Stump?

Mount Roraima in South America is surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides. It is part of the Pakaraima Mountains which is one of the oldest geological formations on Earth. Since long before the arrival of European explorers, the mountain has held a special significance for the indigenous people of the region, and it is central to many of their myths and legends. The Pemon and Kapon natives of the Gran Sabana believe the mountain to be the stump of a mighty tree that once held all the fruits and tuberous vegetables in the world. Unfortunately they must've had some hungry ancestors because the fruits and vegetables are gone and only the stump remains.
